Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Bookend Games ("we", "us") collects when you visit this website or buy from us, and what we do with it. We are the data controller for that information.
What we collect. When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery and billing addresses, phone number if you give one, and details of what you ordered. Payment card details are handled by Shopify Payments or your chosen payment provider and never reach us. When you sign up to our mailing list or fill in the contact or retailer forms: whatever you put in the form, usually your name, email address and message. When you browse the site: technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Why we use it. To take, process and deliver your order and to tell you when it ships (performance of our contract with you). To reply to your messages and handle returns, refunds and complaints (our legitimate interest in running the business). To send you news about FILL ME IN if you have asked us to; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email (your consent). To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and understand how the site is used (our legitimate interests). To meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting records.
Who we share it with. Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders and payments on our behalf. Delivery companies, who receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your order. Our email provider, to send order updates and, if you have opted in, our newsletter. Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers. Some of these providers are outside the UK. Where personal information leaves the UK we rely on the UK's adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK addendum).
How long we keep it. Order records for six years after the order, for tax purposes. Mailing-list details until you unsubscribe. Form enquiries for up to two years after our last contact. Website analytics data is kept in aggregated form.
Cookies. We use cookies that are essential for the shop to work (your cart, checkout and security), and, with your consent where required, analytics and marketing cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through the banner on the site and in your browser settings.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@bookendgames.com and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or, if you are in the EU, your local data protection authority.
Age. FILL ME IN contains adult humour and is sold to customers aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes. We may update this policy from time to time. The date below tells you when it was last changed.
